Principal's Message

Taiesha Young is the Executive Principal of Carter Elementary School. She brings more than ten years of classroom and leadership experience to this role. In January 2014, she began her career at Noxapater Attendance Center as a Special Education Inclusion Teacher and Assistant Softball Coach. From 2014 to 2017, she taught Pre‑K at Oakland Heights Elementary. She then served at Holston Middle School from 2017 to 2019 as a 6th Grade Special Education Teacher. In 2019, she joined Gibbs Elementary as Assistant Administrator before moving to Pond Gap Elementary as Assistant Principal in 2020 and in 2022 received the opportunity to serve as Principal of Pond Gap from 2022-2025.

Ms. Young holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University, a Master of Education in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. 

Outside of her professional role, she enjoys live music, exploring new places and foods, serving at her church, and spending time with her family. She looks forward to building on Carter Elementary’s strong foundation and empowering every member of the Hornet family to thrive.
