Welcome to the School Counseling Page for Brickey-McCloud Elementary — 2025-2026

Thank you for visiting the Brickey-McCloud School Counseling page! We hope you find it helpful and will check back throughout the year as we add new resources and updates.

We’re excited to share that this year, Brickey has two school counselors:

• Mrs. Kristen Adams – Full-time, 5 days a week

• Ms. Jessy Alva – Shared with Corryton Elementary, with us 3 days a week

While both counselors are available to work with any student, our general plan this year is:

• Ms. Alva will work with and teach: Four Kindergarten classrooms, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade

• Mrs. Adams will work with and teach: Four Kindergarten classrooms, 1st grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade

We’re looking forward to a year full of new adventures, learning, and connection. Knox County Schools and Brickey-McCloud are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where every student can grow and thrive.

Communication is key! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher, school counselor, or one of our administrators with any questions or concerns.

Services Provided Through Our Comprehensive School Counseling Program

• Classroom Lessons (“Counseling Class”) – Academic, Social-Emotional, and Career topics based on Tennessee Student Standards

• Individual Counseling – Support with school-related skills (ex: coping skills, organization, focus, self-advocacy)

• Small Group Counseling – Based on needs (ex: grief, divorce, study skills)

• Consultation & Collaboration – With students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders

• Parent Meetings

• Crisis Management

• Referrals for Mental Health Services – When additional support is needed
