Reminders:
1. If your student is an early grad and starting their postsecondary journey in January, make sure you fill out BOTH the 2025-2026 & the 2026-2027 FAFSA forms.
2. Students must make sure that the email the Parent uses to create their FSA ID account is the SAME parent email they type into the "parent email" section of the student portion.

TN Promise Volunteer Hours Information:
- By August 1, 2026:
- Complete and submit at least 16 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org. These hours cover the entire 2026-2027 academic year!
- Any hours completed after August 1, 2024 and meet our guidelines can be submitted for this deadline.
- If a student submits more than the 16 hours required, those hours will roll over to the next deadline. Or, if a student submits 32 hours for this deadline, they will not be required to submit any additional community service hours for the duration of their TN Promise eligibility.
- Complete and submit at least 16 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org. These hours cover the entire 2026-2027 academic year!
- By August 1, 2027:
- Complete and submit an additional 16 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org for a total of 32 hours on record (total hours submitted for both deadlines). These hours cover the entire 2027-2028 academic year!
- Any hours completed after August 1, 2024 and meet our guidelines can be submitted for this deadline.
- No further hours are needed for Class of 2026 applicants after this deadline.
- Complete and submit an additional 16 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org for a total of 32 hours on record (total hours submitted for both deadlines). These hours cover the entire 2027-2028 academic year!

We ask that students commit to volunteering 3–4 hours per week. Interested in a Career Degree?What is a career degree? An associate of applied science (AAS) is a degree earned at a community college that prepares students for business or technical careers. They are not designed to transfer to baccalaureate (4 year) colleges. However, the General Education courses typically transfer to most four-year colleges and universities. The final semester of a career degree usually includes an internship; the employment rate is usually over 90% for career degrees. And, with the Tennessee Promise scholarship, this degree can be earned for free at Institutions such as Pellissippi State, Walters State, Roane State, & TN School of Applied Technology (TCAT).
