Mrs. Roovers holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Carson-Newman University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Carson-Newman University.

Mrs. Roovers taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Inskip Elementary and Powell Elementary. In 2012, Mrs. Roovers accepted a position as an instructional coach at Brickey-McCloud Elementary. In 2018, Mrs. Roovers was appointed assistant principal at Brickey-McCloud and held that position for six years. This is Mrs. Roovers first year as assistant principal at Gibbs Elementary.

Mrs. Roovers is married and has two teenage children and an English bulldog named Dolly.
