Ms. Jessy Alva

Hello!

This is my first year as a professional school counselor and I am so excited to be starting my career serving Pleasant Ridge on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This is my fourth year working for the Knox County School system.  I worked at South Doyle Middle School during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years as a special education teaching assistant.  During the 2019-2020 school year I did my school counseling internship at Gibbs Elementary in the fall and Karns High School in the spring, as well as worked as a interim school counselor at Sterchi Elementary from March through May 2020. I have worked with all grade levels K-12, and truly love working at the elementary level.  I believe school counselors are so important for elementary schools because we get to help young people learn to interact kindly towards one another, develop strategies for success in and out of the classroom, and begin dreaming about what kind of mark they want to leave on the world when they grow up and choose a career path.  It's a very exciting time and I'm so excited to be a part of it!
